Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's: Meet Marissa Clark

Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's: Meet Marissa Clark - A.K. Rikk's

Today as a part of our Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's series, we would like to introduce you to our new Assistant Sales manager, Marissa Clark! Marissa is the latest addition to the A.K. Rikk's family and she’s here to support our sales team and help them uphold the level of excellence that clients expect and appreciate.

What initially drew you to A.K. Rikk's?

Kiernan, the current E-Commerce and Store Operations Manager! I’ve known him for years and he invited me in for a tour. There’s something so special about stepping through those front doors. That magic continues with every step you take further inside. Needless to say, it was love at first sight. I knew then and there I wanted to be a part of it. I knew I was made for the role and I’m honored to have the chance to help create the magic that captivated me in the first place.

What is your favorite part of working at A.K. Rikk's so far?

There is so much to love–the culture, the atmosphere, the people, being surrounded by such incredible brands and the attention to detail. I’ve been trying to really focus on intention in my life and it has been so incredible to see how much consideration and thoughtfulness goes into every decision here.

What is your favorite brand at A.K. Rikk’s?

I’d have to say Zimmermann. It’s so feminine and delicate but also has some playfulness.

Did you go to school for fashion/hold a degree or did you just come by it naturally?

I studied Marketing and French language at Grand Valley State University but my intrigue in the world of fashion didn't come until later in life as I started to explore the hobbies I wanted to pursue as an adult.

When you're not at work, what could we find you doing?

Probably eating. Whether I’m at one of my favorite spots in town or in my own kitchen, food is one of my passions. I have such a deep appreciation for good quality food and the art of balancing flavors to make a truly incredible dish.

What was your best trip ever?

It was my time studying abroad when I was in college. We went to Paris and Bordeaux to study French language and culture so nearly our whole trip we practiced speaking and immersing ourselves in our French surroundings. It was so challenging but rewarding and something I’ll probably never experience again. It holds a special place in my heart.

What’s your perfect Sunday?

My perfect Sunday starts with breakfast at Field & Fire cafe with my partner. It’s one of the few places in town that prioritizes organic ingredients and from-scratch bakery goods, so it's our absolute favorite! We’d then head to Fido & Stitch to snag our dog a raw femur bone because obviously he deserves it. Then it's back home to relax for the day! I am a bed bug at heart so I love being cozy and snuggling up at home with my favorite people and pets.

Any books you’re reading now?

Over the past few years I have become a total nut when it comes to learning and practicing health and wellness. Recently I finished the book Breath by James Nestor. It's part science, part experimental and part anthropology. I promise it's not as boring as it sounds!

If we scrolled through pictures on your phone, what would it mostly consist of?

My dog and maybe food but mostly my gorgeous dog, Turbo. He is a blue merle Bernese Aussie Mix and he is the cutest thing to exist. He’s used to the paparazzi (me) constantly interrupting his day.
