TRUNK SHOW ALERT: L’AGENCE

At A.K. Rikk’s, our clients have made L'agence a best-selling brand and the trunk show on November 8th and 9th should be on your calendar, on your mind and ultimately the jeans should be on that body! The trunk show will unveil this season’s new colorways and variations on your favorite designs. The top selling pieces will be on hand so you can remember why you fell in love in the first place.

Why we LOVE L'AGENCE

Are you one of the #ladieswholagence? I certainly am and I'm new to the brand. I'm Missy Black, the copywriter at A.K. Rikk's and my initiation into the world of L'agence came by playing dress up in their signature denim (a grand experience, you should try it). The brand’s DNA is saturated in ladylike, Parisian influences. They take wardrobe staples and give them ageless silhouettes and cosmopolitan prints infused with a little je ne sais quo, the kind of thing you can’t put your finger on, the kind of style that draws everyone in, that nameless grace, elegance and luxury that you instantly can’t live without.

Let’s unzip our best-selling denim and break down what makes it lovable, wearable and the jeans you reach for most in your closet. Besides, when celebrities (who can afford and have access to everything) are making a choice to wear a brand, you should take note. You can doll up in the same designer styles famous names such as Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Lovato are wearing.

The Margot by L'AGENCE: The Best Jean for Shorter Women

She’s a firecracker. She wants to show off a bit more. She’s the kind of girl that’s the first to start a trend. She wants to stand out and uses all her feminine wiles to make it happen. This skinny denim features a high-rise and is constructed with a super stretch fabric. The look is a slim silhouette from the hip to ankle that holds its shape, lifting your spirits and body. The contoured waistband embraces your natural waist for that stay-put, not going anywhere fit that we’re all constantly chasing. The ankle length seems modern, of-the-moment and it’s the perfect way to show off footwear (from stilettos to sneakers).

My take? These were the first L’agence jeans I ever tried on. The stretch was immediately noticeable. Curve-hugging is the best description. I am smitten with how this style hits at the ankle so your choice in footwear stands out and becomes more prominent. Another thing that was a bit prominent was my tush. I felt as if this style highlighted that area but ladies, if you’ve got it, work with it, right? The style I tried on was a medium wash that felt more casual and the material felt thick with plenty of support. Ladies that have curves and want a bit of tummy control would gravitate toward this style.

What to Wear with L'AGENCE'S Margot Skinny Jeans

Some of our best-selling tops that mix well with this denim choice are L’agence’s Jane tank and Ryan blouse. Both tops have a more modern appeal to them, befitting the uptown girl that’s making a name for herself in the city. The Jane tank is a soft, washed silk crepe de chine with sexy (and adjustable) spaghetti straps and a refined shape that can be tucked into denim or sequined skirts. It has a flirty appeal that complements the Margot denim’s body-conscious, sexy and playful look. To temper the femme fatale vibe (oh, darn), the Ryan blouse is a classic piece that works well here. This style has a gorgeous drape and a slim fit with contemporary touches such as a three-quarter sleeve and a slightly shorter, curved hem to show more of the body.

The Margot can be seen at the rooftop V.I.P. lounge for cocktail hour. It makes perfect sense to wear this style to ladies night, an impromptu concert and when you want to work the room and make a lasting first impression. Alternative pieces include oversized tops, cozy sweaters and even boyish sweatshirts (all of these tops temper the seductive charms of the bottoms).

The Marguerite by L'AGENCE: The Best Jean for Taller Women

This lady seems more cultured and elegant. She’s accustomed to luxury (and likes to keep it that way). She’s confident and speaks fluently in fabrics such as silks and cashmere. Her clothing pieces are her trusted friends. This denim also features a high rise in a skinny design but with a longer inseam. The feel is noticeably more lightweight but still very comfortable. Again, an exclusive waistband provides a contoured fit. This style has a wonderfully long and lean leg so it’s probably not the best choice for petite women.

My thoughts? I liked these for a different reason. I thought the Margot was my favorite but the Marguerite has tied for that designer, long and lean silhouette. The fit was a bit loose on my waist but the comfort and fit everywhere else was spot on. A smidge too long for my legs, I ended up doing a reverse cuff on the inside so it gave the appearance of a hemmed look. The style I slipped into had a bit of a coating to give it a wink of shine in a dark and lush green shade. Tall, slim ladies or more boyish body types would do well here.

The Marguerite should be packed for the out of town wine tasting trip. Have an ultra fancy brunch at the latest hot spot? This style should be invited. When you’re heading out to your next art gallery soirèe and want to look cultured and in-the-know, this style is just the thing. Adding a blazer to these bottoms (and maybe a luxury graphic tee) give that casual-chic approach. A long duster or cardigan has a smart elegance that can easily be added or subtracted to the look.

What to Wear with L'AGENCE'S Marguerite Skinny Jeans

Some of our best-selling tops that have a similar mindset include the Nina blouse. This classic button-down blouse in double silk georgette offers a more relaxed fit. The casual collar is a bit informal while the back extends lower to hide areas where you desire more coverage. A French tuck is adorable here and adds a little extra visual to this traditional top. The more loose fitting collar lends itself to a neck scarf that’s another touch of Parisian style. The Aoki Band Collar blouse is another easy match. Crafted from a silk charmeuse, this slim fit top has a demure, slim collar that folds down to an open lapel--a small detail that is a refined touch. The lightweight construction offers a breezy breathability with charming button cuffs, a shorter and curved hem and three-quarter length sleeves (perfect to create space for sparkling bracelets and bangles).

Now that you know more about some of the top picks, make sure you look into our embellished and colorful styles to update your favorites in a festive way!

What to Wear with Printed Jeans

Might we suggest the Margot High Rise Leopard Crystal Skinny as a date night option? Crystal embellishments create a subtle leopard print pattern on the front of these jeans in a dark grey wash that’s a sure-fire way to add a little drama. Because these bottoms have such presence, the Bianca Band Collar Blouse in a dark, emerald green is a soft touch of color that works here.

What to Wear with Colored Jeans

Does color give you life? The Marguerite High-Rise Skinny denim is available in a bold, lipstick red shade that offers a slight sheen due to the lightweight coating. The stock white Ryan blouse completes this look and lets the color be the main focus.

What to wear with Black Jeans

The Margot High-Rise Fringe Chain Skinny is for the girls that love to wear black (on black). Pearlized fringe embellishments run along the side seams creating movement and tons of edge. Produce a festival vibes moment and layer fun upon wild with the Jane Spaghetti Strap Top in black. The gold tiger print is over-the-top (in a good way) and lets everyone know you’re on the prowl. Add a distressed denim jacket and this is a little street style all wrapped up in L’agence’s signature ladylike treatment.

Ladies, when the holidays hit you don't want to be scrambling to pull together a look. Our trunk show will charm you with fashions that take you from friendly dinner parties to a fabulous and extravagant office mixer and everything in-between. Party-ready is a (major) thing and we can help you pull together the pieces so it's done more than right but done in the most L'agence way possible.
