Today as a part of our Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's series, we would like to introduce you to our Sales & Floor Assistant, Jennifer Nguyen. Jennifer is a huge support to the sales team, providing day-to-day assistance front-facing and behind the scenes. Basically, on Jennifer’s watch, things run smoothly.  

What initially drew you to A.K. Rikk's? 

I was driving by and had heard people talking about the store. When I got inside everyone was so friendly and I had never experienced such great service! I’ve never been to a department store where they ask if you would like any beverages while shopping! Plus, what really got to me was the amazing products.

What is your favorite part of working at A.K. Rikk's so far?

I enjoy helping the personal shoppers put products away because it feels like a scavenger hunt while I'm learning about brands.

What is your favorite brand at A.K. Rikk’s?

I would say Ami because it's minimal and chic.

Did you go to school for fashion or did you just come by it naturally?

I graduated with a marketing degree from Davenport University and was able to intern for a local fashion designer here in Grand Rapids. I was grateful to have some experience with fashion after college. I've always been a fashion girly since I was younger. 

Describe yourself in three words. 

Organized, passionate and reliable.

Are you a sneakers or heels kind of girl?

I am both but if I had to choose one it would be sneakers because you can dress it up or down.

Who would you say is your number one fashion inspiration? 

A fashion influencer that I follow, @ellenvlora. If it was for a brand I would say Prada.

Favorite season to dress for? 

Fall because of sweater weather and layering but not cold enough for a thick winter jacket.

What type of music do you prefer?

Anything pop or EDM.

Have you ever been told you look like someone famous? Who was it?

The K-pop star Jessica from Girls Generation. 

You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?

“Gotta Go My Own Way” from High School Musical 2.
