Your New Wardrobe Staple: The Track Pant

Your New Wardrobe Staple: The Track Pant

Track pants are no longer just for athletes and 90’s enthusiasts, ladies! That’s right, track pants are trending and just might replace denim as the go-to staple in your wardrobe. With streetwear evolving as a market and street style photos from Paris, London, Milan, and New York taking over your Pinterest feed, we thought it was important to show you more from the trend and how you can incorporate the look into your closet- no matter your age!

What is the track pant?

The track pant isn’t limited to snap away polyester anymore- the trend is sweeping a variety of materials (silk, denim, etc.) and has a stripe (or piping) on each side of the leg as the essential statement element.

How do you wear your track pant without looking like you’re going to the gym?

Mixing elements and juxtaposed styles is key to achieving this effortless, yet incredibly chic look. Low AND high price points (designer bags, luxury sweatshirts, expensive jewelry), sporty AND glam (fur, leather, heels), leisure AND business (blazers, button-up shirts, turtlenecks) can all be combined to create inspired looks that are on trend and still classic. You can work with almost anything in your closet as long as you remember this element of combining the yin and the yang.

I’m worried I’ll look like I’m trying too hard to be “young” and “cool” in track pants.

Don’t be silly! British Vogue’s deputy editor, Sarah Harris, has been an advocate for this trend since London Fashion week in 2016. Additionally, you’d be in good company with Alyson Walsh, a popular freelance journalist and former magazine fashion editor and author who gives expert advice and tips for woman of all ages- and her track pant look has been featured on many street style blogs.

Does A.K. Rikk’s have track style pants?
