Here at A.K. Rikk’s we love any reason to find the perfect outfit for the weekend. Labor Day is almost here and is a reminder a break from work is important and so is being ready for “layering” season. To find out what to wear for the holiday weekend and into the fall season we sat down with two of our Personal Shoppers, Hannah Wilson and Alexander Mars, to ask about their Labor Day weekend plans, what they’ll be wearing, and how they will transition items from day-to-night as we leave summer and enter into fall. Hannah’s plans for the weekend include showing one of her best pals around Grand Rapids. Spending time with friends is a great way to unwind and what better place to do that than at her local favorite brunch spot, Marie Catrib’s. Hannah points out she’ll “be wandering around town and will need outfits that are comfortable.” Frederik Meijer Gardens is also on the list of places to visit. Plus “I’ll be bringing my puppy everywhere with me so easy to move in is a must too.” Hannah’s comfort outfit for her day in the city is Tory Burch’s denim mini skirt and Austine Stripe sweater plus some comfy white sneakers, perfect for all of the walking she’ll be doing. For her evening out, Hannah will wear a Tory Burch navy sweater dress paired with Chloé loafers, and Valentino Bucket Bag. Her first stop of the evening will be at Sovengard where she plans to “soak up every last bit of patio season.” The night will end across the street at Butcher’s Union with “good food, good company, and a killer outfit that can transition into fall.” Alexander enjoys being dressed up for all occasions. His weekend plans include a trip to Detroit with his wife to look at a classic car, a 1960 Mk2 Jaguar to be exact, and dinner with friends at Mabel Gray in Hazel Park. He has chosen the Boglioli Plush Wool K Jacket in navy because it can be worn for both day-time and evening looks, it is “comfortable, and works for travelling, as it packs well.” Not to mention, it will stand up to the hours spent in the car. “I also chose items that can be worn throughout the season...you can keep coming back to them,” he says. During his day spent traveling Alexander plans to wear an Isaia light blue button down, a red stripe tie by Zegna, and Boglioli wool pants. The pants and jacket work into his “evening out” look by pairing them with an Eton long sleeve purple woven and no tie. Alexander is a tie during the day kind-a-guy, and dinner is “more casual and it will be the end of a long day.” Time for no tie and a good time. Whatever you do on Labor Day Weekend, be stylish, have fun, and relax.
