Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK'S - Karina

Posted on January 28 2017

Today as a part of Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S series we’d like to introduce our Personal Shopper, Karina Williams. She has been a part of our family for almost three years. Karina is a wonderful mother and implements the family atmosphere everyday she is working- with her clients and her coworkers. She explains how she keeps her style fresh, "I love street style. Just seeing the way people dress whether here in Grand Rapids or in New York City - their day to day style always intrigues me. I find the most inspiration from people watching." Get to know who Karina's style muses are and how she transitions her style season to season through a series of questions in our eighth Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S interview. What does style mean to you? Style is the best non verbal communication to show who you are, what you're feeling that day, how you want to project yourself to the world and what you feel good wearing. Who is your style muse?  It's hard to limit that to one. I've always loved Liv Tyler. I think she has a nice balance of dressing like a normal everyday woman who drops her kids off at school but when she dresses up for an event she looks incredibly effortless and care-free. I like that she doesn't try too hard. I really love Solange Knowles as well and the way she mixes color and pattern with neutrals to create a punch-y look that doesn't look like a mess. She always looks beautiful to me. Stacey Nishimoto is an unbelievable creative and stylist. She's one of those people that I feel was just born insanely talented and I'm always in awe of how she styles herself. Favorite Brand?  The Row. It's simple and it makes sense but is still very interesting. In a perfect world I would wear the row jeans and their white t-shirt everyday. I love Saint Laurent too! How can one transition pieces from season to season? The smartest way to transition is to buy really good basics. Most of my basics in my wardrobe are four seasons. I'll layer t shirts or my silk blouses with heavy sweaters and boots in the winter and then a neck scarf and flats in the spring. Best piece of style advice to give someone? It's all about feeling good in what you're wearing. Don't be afraid to take risks or do something unconventional. Impress yourself first, don't worry about what everyone else thinks. That concludes our eighth Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S series interview. If you’ve missed our other interviews within this series click here to catch up.
