Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's: Meet Stephanie Muscat

Today, as a part of our Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's series, we would like to introduce you to our HR Manager, Stephanie! Stephanie is one of the latest additions to the A.K. Rikk's family and we are so happy to have her! During her Behind the Seams interview, we asked her what brought her to A.K. Rikk’s and what makes her tick!

Where are you from?

I am originally from England. A small town called Middlewich, right outside of Manchester in the North West. In December of 2003, I landed in what seemed like 7 feet of snow in Detroit, MI. Then, in 2007, I moved to Grand Rapids to attend GVSU and have been on this side of the state ever since!

What initially drew you to A.K. Rikk’s?

I always loved coming into the store and immediately experiencing the warm and welcoming customer service.  I had never experienced this level of service in a retail store! I knew I wanted to be a part of the culture and team here! The architecture and style of the building is also a true piece of art, that I get excited to pull up to every day.

When you’re not at work, what could we find you doing?

When I’m not at work, you will find me at gym or outside going for a long run. After a good workout I am usually checking out a new restaurant in town! Besides exercise and eating, my family and I love traveling. We love experiencing new countries and cities and immersing ourselves in new cultures, foods and experiences.

What is your personal mantra?

My personal mantra is that a mind that is stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions. I truly believe that once you push yourself out of your comfort zone you will learn so much more and how to be the best version of yourself! Also “more wine please.”

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 inanimate objects would you have with you?

If I were stranded on a desert island, the 3 objects I would want with me are my iPhone so that I can watch my reality tv shows and post fun desert island stories to social media (hopefully the island has good wifi!), a suspenseful book and of course my Valentino flip flops because you always want to look good on the beach!

If you could spend an hour in the company of any famous person, living or deceased, who would it be?

If I could spend an hour in the company of anyone living or deceased, it would definitely be Princess Diana, because she was not only a style icon but also an overall amazing human being! Her life was so interesting and I would love to learn more about her…from her!

That concludes this Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk’s interview! Next time you stop in-store, be sure to say ‘hello’ to Stephanie!
