Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's: Meet Dalton Smith

Today, as part of our Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's, we would like to introduce you to Product Photographer, Dalton Smith. For the last ten years Dalton worked in the steel industry and recently decided to pursue a new career path and experience something different (we love a good switch up).

What initially drew you to A.K. Rikk's?

I viewed it as an opportunity to explore an entirely new career path, which is something that I had been wanting to do long before the opportunity presented itself.

What is your favorite part of working at A.K. Rikk's so far?

I'm very happy to be out of a traditional office environment. It's great to be in a vibrant workspace full of energy.

What have you learned this week at work?

I've found that I do not enjoy styling robes one bit.

When you're not at work, what could we find you doing?

Most of my free time is spent either taking or editing photos. Most of my work revolves around musicians, mainly capturing live performances, but I'm very much interested in street and portraiture as well.

What do you still have from childhood?

I still have a Slipknot hoodie from middle school that I will never part with.

If you were an inanimate object, what would you be?

If I were an inanimate object I would likely be a half dollar. They make great flipping coins when you're stuck between two choices and I've always enjoyed leaving things up to chance. Heads or tails, you know your preference as soon as it's in the air but I commit to the result every time.

Favorite season to dress for?

My favorite season to dress for is definitely fall. Nothing beats jeans and a comfy hoodie.

What’s your favorite weekend ritual?

Sleeping as much as possible. They say you can't catch up on lost sleep but it sure feels good to try!

Into any movies lately?

I saw Bullet Train recently and it was a strong contender for movie of the year. I love to see action-comedy with a great script.

When do you feel most content in life?

I feel most content in life when I'm traveling, especially to new places. I love exploring with my camera in hand and no real plan, just seeing where the wind takes me. I take a yearly trip to Colorado always seeking out different mountain towns and wandering the vastness of Denver.

This concludes this Behind the Seams interview. The next time you’re shopping online at www.akrikks.com, you’ll notice Dalton’s product shots that he makes look luxurious and definitely add-to-cart worthy.
