Today as a part of our Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's series we’d like to introduce our Women's Merchandise Coordinator, Courtney Lee. She has been a part of our family for almost three years. You might recognize her from her popular talk show - Court's Corner! A lover of fashion for as long as she can remember, Courtney recalls, "There was this one specific moment when everything changed for me. I was shopping with a friend about six years ago standing in the check out line with a fashion book in my hand and my friend turned to me and said 'You obviously love fashion don't you? You need to work in that industry.' For some reason those words made a huge impact on me and redirected my career focus." Get to know why Courtney is a full fledged #ChloeGirl through a series of questions in our twelfth Behind The Seams with A.K. Rikk's interview.
As a part of the Women's Buying Team, how do you know what to select for future seasons? Is it gut instinct or a lot of research?
It's a team effort first and foremost. Each person on the buying team brings an important piece of the puzzle to the buying process. My contribution is to bring data from past seasons. If something sold really well for us we will try to repeat that success the next season. You never know what to expect before you walk into a showroom to view a new collection. It could be the best selling brand in the store but you could leave feeling uneasy. That's when gut instinct comes in. That's why we have our lovely Women's Director Blair Dame and Personal Shopper Karina Williams to have the insight for predicting what our clients will love. Once we all come together, the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
Chloé is my one true love. I relate to this quote by Clare Waight Keller, who was the Creative Director for Chloé, 'Chloé speaks to me on so many levels - firstly because its feminine. I love the free spirited, effortless attitude of the Chloé girl. For me, Chloé is about the fabulous piece you can wear so many different ways, and the spirit of confidence you have when you wear it. Most of all, it feels real.'
Who is your style muse?
I find inspiration from fashion bloggers. A couple that I particularly enjoy are Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific and Arielle Noa Charnas from Something Navy. Blair Eadie has my dream wardrobe - she's so classy and chic every single day. In my ideal world, I would be wearing a full skirt, big hat, and a pair of statement sunglasses every day. While Arielle is more of your cool girl blogger - she's got more of an everyday style with a great mixture of jeans, sweaters, paired with awesome shoes!
What is your favorite episode of Court's Corner?
I would have to say the episode that I interviewed our owner, Rick Gaby - I love our banter! If I were ever to need a co-host he is the first person I would call!
Favorite season to dress for? Why?
Spring and Summer are definitely my favorite seasons. I love the simplicity of summer. Nothing feels better than walking out of the house in the exact outfit you picked for that day. It's my favorite thing when the snow melts in the Spring and I can leave my coat and snow boots at home.
What’s your fashion vice? Shoes, handbags, dresses?
My fashion vice is without a doubt handbags. Anyone who knows me will say the same thing. For some reason handbags just speak to my heart more than anything else. My wish list is never ending. I'm a sucker for Chloé and Gucci. My second love is shoes. I feel my best when I've got a great bag on my arm and some killer shoes on my feet.
That concludes this Behind the Seams with A.K. Rikk's series interview. Next time you shop with us make sure you say “Hi” to Courtney!
