Best of Pitti 2014

January 10, 2014

The annual pilgrimage has begun. Fashion gods and their worshippers flock to the Mecca of Milan to pay homage and fill their moleskin bibles with inspiration and ideas for what is to come this year. One of the best street photographers Tommy Ton is always gracious enough to capture images of the immortals.

The Zegna difference

March 14, 2013

Whenever we have a trunk show weekend, we always welcome the curious, and questioning client who is wondering what all the mailers, emails and facebook posts are all about. We always get one major question during our Zegna trunk show, and that is: “What’s so special about the wool, what makes it different?” Well here is your answer sir: This April is the 50th annual celebration of the Golden Fleece Award, which is a milestone that Ermenegildo Zegna offers all wool growers around the world, which they in turn use to find the best wool. To celebrate this year Zegna is getting ready for 3 days of festivities from April 21-23 which will include press dinners, farm visits and a multimedia production at the Royal Hall of industries in Sydney. Wool growers from Mongolia, Italy, the UK, and Australia will attend to compete for the prize, which usually is awarded to the Australian growers who have perfected superfine merino into strands that are 18.5 microns thin or finer.

Our Ermenegildo Zegna trunk show will run from today until Friday.

Blogging with Brunello

December 5, 2012

Over the past couple days I have experienced deja vu while internet trolling. This vest from Brunello Cucinelli keeps popping up all over, and I am here to let you know that it is available here at A.K.RIKK’S! The whole Winter collection is amazing, but this piece in particular is extra special because it is a new direction for the brand, but still has the quality they are known for. This down vest will never have any of the feathers leave the inside lining because BC has a specially trained craftsman remove all the quills from each feather so that all that is left is warm fluffiness! Bella! It should fit in my stocking if anyone out there is interested…

An Experience

November 18, 2012

We invite you this holiday season to share with us a new label that is being introduced at the store. Esemplare is an Italian sportswear company that was created 4 decades ago in order to cloth a man who possesses a certain passion for tradition, can appreciate innovation and is looking for sophistication but does not want to brag. In a day in age where production is standardized the word “quality” is definitely thrown around lightly. However not with this label. Mostly consisting of knitwear and outerwear, the A.K.RIKK’S buying team felt the collection looked best in all black.

Food for Thought

February 9, 2012

Dario Cecchini, master butcher speaking about life and the art of producing something that is excellent. It is always incredibly beautiful to watch a person so in love with his craft, explain what drives him and what his purposes are. It is also our goal to slow down, and provide a service that shows people that there is another road to be taken.

ps….just look at the tartar of Chianti! wow

Brunello Cucinelli

The A.K.RIKK’S team has taken a large portion of their time this past buying season to decide what our friends that shop with us might be lacking. At the top of our list was the lifestyle of Cucinelli.

Nestled away in the quaint village of Solomeo in the Umbria region of central Italy, is a 14th century castle where men and women gather every morning with the sound of church bells to go to work. The small rolling sea of people file into the castle in grey uniforms resembles monks at morning prayer. They will spend their morning crafting the world’s greatest cashmere, meticulous at every step, from the initial weaving all the way to centimeter by centimeter of inspection, ensuring each piece is to the standard of perfection.

Noon comes and again the church bells ring, not to signal the hour, but to call the entire company to lunch. Everyone has an assigned seat, mixing the executives with the textile workers, like a family, an Italian family.

We are so happy to be bringing this lifestyle to all of our friends, being able to share what it means to enjoy something beautiful.

Isaia & Montante Cicli

November 9, 2010

If you happen to stop by the Napoli Isaia shop next time you find yourself stranded amidst the Italian country-side, you might want to go inside and have a tailor with forty years experience measure you for a new Isaia suit. As you finish your wine and are walking through the shop you will notice a bicycle or two strewn about the place. If you feel the need to ask and have a desire to cruise about the city a “La Dolce Vita”, one of the specialists can fit you for a custom bicycle by Milan based Montante Cicli. The unique thing about this bicycle is that it has you, the sartorialist that you are in mind. Not only is the bike customized to your height, weight, and riding ability; you can give it the sense of sprezzatura that you already possess by choosing the (Isaia cloth) fabric for the seat and the handlebars. The bike was designed specifically with the well dressed man in mind with splash guards on the wheels to make sure you are not drenched; it also has a felt covering that encapsulates the gears and chain to ensure no grease streaks your brown suede brogues. The details that can be attended to could fill a book, just know that this is a jewel on two wheels made for the man with the priceless wardrobe.
